SOUTHBRIDGE FIRE STATION

BUILDING PROJECT

PROJECT UPDATE

January 7, 2026

Weather had been on our side until recently. Framing has been completed. Rough electric and plumbing are ongoing. The roof material is complete on the administration and living quarters areas. Masonry block walls are nearing completion behind tented, warm spaces. The brick was delivered today. The interesting color visible from the road is the vapor barrier material. If the weather will cooperate, the roofing material will be laid on the apparatus bay next.

ABOUT

The Southbridge Fire Station is more than 125 years old and does not efficiently support the operations of a 21st century fire department. The purpose of this web site is to provide information to the Southbridge community on the facility study process to address the needs of the fire station.

EXISTING

Trucks and equipment barely fit through the doors, decontamination of trucks and gear is done outdoors, and the building does not meet many local, state and federal codes including ADA accessibility. These are just a few of the inefficiencies of the existing Southbridge Fire Station.

PLANS

Plans and Renderings for a Worcester Street location have been developed and are available for viewing.
